The girls had a favorite story book character dress up day. Gracie decided to be Laura Ingalls and Lindsey chose to be Ramona Quimby. They had to read 6 hours to get free Six Flags tickets and they both read their very first chapter books! I'm so proud of them for doing this and only being in First Grade and Kindergarten!
Gracie is wearing a pioneer bonnet that we inherited from Grandma Christensen. Does anyone know if there is a story behind the bonnet, or was it just something she picked up through the years?
In Ramona Quimby Age 8, she cracks a raw egg on her head, thinking that it was hard boiled, so I tried to make a cracked egg for Lindsey's head.
Then they had future career dress up day. Gracie wanted to be a ballet teacher and Lindsey used Gracie's artist costume from last year.
At the end of this Career Day, I got a phone call from the school that Lindsey had thrown up. I told them I'd come get her, but after hanging up I realized I'd be crossing paths with the bus, so I called them back and asked them to grab Gracie for me too. Gracie kept saying her shoes were wet when I got there. I asked if there were puddles outside at recess, but when we got home, I realized she had peed her pants at some point during the day. I asked her when, and she said, "I don't know, maybe during computers?" AAaaahhh! So I had a puked on kid and a peed on kid to clean up. I'm so tired of my life being filled with cleaning up bodily fluids and waste!!!! There's a reason I didn't go into nursing, but I guess Mom's get it all anyway. Lindsey had a stomach bug about a month ago and she had a big diarrhea accident all down the hallway. It smelled so awful and she was covered and the carpet was covered. It was the worst clean up we've ever had and that's saying something for us!!! Poor sick kids!
I love all the things the girls are doing with school-especially that they love reading! No story to the bonnet but I'm pretty sure I still have one that belonged to my Grandma Christensen. She died when I was six so it is very special--and very well used!
