Gracie's short cast! I thought they would take it all the way off and redo a short one but they just sawed off the top and then re-padded the top and bottom. I told Gracie before we went that she could choose a new color since I thought they would do a new one - whoops! So when we were there she asked for purple. The nurse was kind enough to get the purple when she re-padded the top and bottom so now Gracie has a multi-colored cast. She has to wear it for three weeks. She was trembling and crying when they sawed the top off so I'm not looking forward to when they saw the rest off but it will be nice when the three weeks are up and we can give her normal baths again (I guess I can't complain because Tim's been the one giving her baths) and have her be self-reliant again.
She's complained more about the short cast than she did with the full-leg one. I think it's because her knee was bent for so long and now she can straighten it. Plus she scratched all around her knee pretty bad. It must have been itching so much and she was finally able to scratch it. Today was the first time she's complained about itching and she was trying to get under the short cast. Poor thing! The doctor said she can put weight on it so I was hoping she could go to the bathroom on her own once they shortened it but she won't put weight on it. She cries when we tell her she can stand on it and walk and she says, "No, it's still hurt."
I think Gracie likes her new brother, don't you? Every time she hears him cry she says, "It's alright Coop!" or "He's awake! Can I hold him?" I've also discovered that you can get the older kids to help. When Cooper is crying and I'm in the middle of something, Gracie loves to help hold his binkie in his mouth for me. It really is a big help! He had been screaming right before I took these pictures and Gracie climbed up on the couch and put his binkie back in his mouth and he fell asleep. Thanks Grace!
I love this picture of them together! Gracie's curls are so gorgeous! It's just a sweet moment! I played around with the coloring and got the picture below. I love it!
