Alabama has a few day special where you can buy school supplies, clothes, etc tax free! Today I took Gracie to get all the rest of her school supplies (Grandma got her some while she visited - thanks!) and it went a bit differently than I thought it would. I was so excited about her getting her first backpack! I told myself that I needed to not be so opinionated and let her pick one on her own. Of course, she picked the one I liked the least!! Haha!!! Disney Princesses . . . and it lights up too. UGH!!! I kept grabbing other backpacks and saying, "What about this one? Look at this. . . " but to no avail. They were pretty limited too and they were all so big on her.
She sure does look cute though! It was so fun writing her name on everything too. I always loved starting a new school year and I am so excited for Gracie!!! I told her she can't go, because I will miss her too much, and she said, "You'll have Lindsey and Cooper and Olivia!!! And I'll come home and tell you all about it!"
Kindergarten is all day here and they have nap time. I'm interested to see how that goes with Gracie since she hasn't had a nap since she was one and a half. The nap mat is too big for her backpack, so she'll have to carry it. She is super excited!!! I asked her if she wanted me to drive her or if she wanted to ride the bus and she said, "I want to ride the bus!" She even drew a picture of me waving out the window to her as she waved back from a bus window. When did she grow up?
The batteries to my camera died while I was recording this video, so it cut me off mid sentence. At least you can see the lights though!
This backpack Lindsey is wearing is the one I tried to convince Gracie to get, because it was one of the only ones without characters on it and it was a bit smaller (and cheaper). I thought it was a lot cuter, but she was sure she wanted her princesses in all their lighted glory! Since this one was only $5, I bought it anyway. I figured Lindsey could use it and not feel so bad when Gracie came home with all her new things. It looks a little funny in the pictures because it is empty, but I still prefer it. I can't believe Lindsey will be starting school next year and that she'll be four in a couple weeks! Crazy!
Cute girls! Tell them to stop growing up so fast!
ReplyDeleteI love my girls and that handsome boy too! I know you will have a great school year Gracie and that you will learn so much. Love from Idaho!
ReplyDeleteHaha! You and I are too much alike, Kristi! I would have tried to convince her to get a different backpack as well, but she looks so happy and proud of her own choice. Way to let her be independent and take ownership! I love all of you, and it brightens up my day to see all your sweet faces!
