Poor little Lindsey had to have surgery. She had a little epigastric hernia about three or four inches above her belly button. The hospital had a tour for the families and kids to prepare them, and they have a toy room and they let the kids drive a car back to the operating room.
We had to be at the hospital at 6 am and she didn't head back until 9 am, but she was a trooper and waited so patiently! She is too cute!
She was set on the purple jeep, but when the nurse asked her if if she wanted to ride the pink one or the blue one, she chose blue! I think she might have been confused because I called the jeep purple, but the nurse called it pink. I can see how it could be called either color. She was so cute driving off, and she was so excited that she didn't even pay attention to me hugging her and saying that I loved her. What a great distraction for kids so that they don't have separation anxiety! They even gave her a driver's license!
All went well with the surgery and we were home by noon! We tried to get her to rest, but she kept playing around the house like nothing had even happened. It made me nervous!
When I first went back to see her at the hospital she was trying everything she could to get to me, reaching for me. The nurses had me get right into bed with her and cuddle her under the blankets. Her thumb that she sucks was all taped up and I could tell that was causing her some distress. When I mentioned it to a nurse, she immediately moved whatever it was to her toe so that she could have her thumb. Little sweetie! She settled down a lot more once she had her thumb to suck.
Her surgeon was so sweet to cut her bandaid into a Christmas tree shape! I was so thankful to her and all the staff for being so kid-friendly! Thanks to everyone for all your prayers on behalf of Lindsey and our family! Love you all!
Sweet Lindsey! So glad everything went well!
